Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) plays a crucial role in schools by providing essential services that contribute to the overall well-being and development of children and young people. One of the key aspects of OT in schools is ensuring access to an environment that is conducive to learning and participation. By addressing environmental barriers and facilitating access to necessary services, activities, and information, OT professionals empower children and young people to fully engage in educational experiences. Moreover, OT emphasises high-quality, outcome-based, and result-driven services that focus on maximising independence and enhancing the quality of life for children and young people in their daily activities. This includes supporting them in fulfilling their aspirations, an integral part of holistic development. Additionally, OT extends its support to families and carers, assisting them in safely managing the child's needs and addressing any related concerns. Anticipating the changing needs of children, young people, and their caregivers is another crucial aspect of OT, facilitating positive transitions and ensuring sustained progress throughout their educational journey.
We receive OT support on Mondays and Thursdays at The Secret Garden, with ongoing training provided to our staff all year round.
